Frequently Asked Questions

A: It appears that most Black bins are being emptied across Leeds (in line with newly published fortnightly dates), despite the strike.
We are currently working on the assumption that all black bins will be emptied. If they are emptied, we will complete the wash. If they are not emptied, we will re-schedule / put on hold your wash to the next available refuse collection day
The latest we have heard is that Green & Brown bins are mostly not being emptied currently.
For everyone's sake, we look forward to an swift end to the disruption.
If your bin happens to be emptied (not on the normal day) let us know and we will arrange a clean ASAP.

Thanks to all our customers who have been very patient and understanding.

Q: Why should I have my bin cleaned?
A: The household wheeliebin is certainly the most unhygienic item at the home and is the final stop for all our family, animal and garden waste. Therefore, inside a wheeliebin, bacteria and germs can multiply rapidly if not properly cleaned and sanitised on a regular basis. We do not just clean your bin, we disinfect it and de-odourise it with fully biodegradable products and provide you with the peace of mind that your bin is left hygienically clean by eradicating both the harmful germs and those nasty smells that not only linger but attracts flies and other unwanted visitors, thereby protecting both your home and health.
The likelihood of fortnightly collections of black bins continuing, even after the strike, means bin hygiene is essential.

A: Your bin is cleaned by our specially equipped vehicle that is fitted with a large water tank with inbuilt filter system that recycles all the water. The dirty water is then safely disposed of into an approved waste water location where all the waste water will be recycled. Keep It Fresh are approved by Yorkshire Water and operate within the strict guidelines of the Environment Agency.

Q: Do we have to be home to get our bin cleaned?

A: No! Keep It Fresh will arrive at your residence as arranged by 5pm on the day that the bin gets emptied by the refuse collectors. All we ask is that you leave your bin out until then. If your bin is not left out on the scheduled cleaning day - we will leave a card to say that we called but couldn't clean your bin.

Q. How does the subscription work?

A: When you subscribe, you will need to either sign into your PayPal account (if you have one) or provide debit/credit card details if you don't. Your details in either case are handled by PayPal on their secure servers - your card details remain private and we never see them. Paypal subscriptions will be collected on the basis you choose. If your subscription payment does not arrive when due, we will contact you to see why and your cleaning schedule will be suspended until your subscription is

renewed.

Q. How do you know when my bins are emptied?

A: We use your postcode and house number/name to access Leeds City Council's Refuse Collection Database which provides the day your black, green and brown bins are emptied and how often your recycling and garden waste are collected. Once you subscribe, we will confirm the dates when your bin(s) will be cleaned, taking into account public holidays and our standard holidays.
